Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that has different virulence factors. this organism is commonly found everywhere, and in people who are weak in terms of the immune system. keratitis is one of the diseases caused by pseudomonas aeruginosa, which causes inflammation of the epidermis (cornea). the dramatic increase in the use of eye lenses has increased the risk of pseudomonaskeratitis in recent years. due to the high risk of this disease, this study attempts to investigate and quickly diagnose the infection. the aim of this study was to detect pseudomonas aeruginosakeratitis infectionsby pcr
This study was performed on 70 suspected pseudomonas keratitis collected from labafinejad hospital. primers based on the oprl gene were designed and tested optimally, and their sensitivity and specificity were examined. dna was extracted from all samples by boiling/dng-plus, and pcr was performed on dna samples.
Pcr product of 418bp was observed on agarose gel electrophoresis. in specificity test not detected any amplicon of tested agents.of the 70 suspected cases of keratitis,39 positive samples were taken from pseudomonas
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most important agents in keratitis. considering the important role of this bacterium in keratiitis, the pcr method has significantly improved the diagnosis of this opportunistic bacterium. according to the obtained results, it can be admitted that pcr technique is a sensitive and specific method for detecting pseudomonasaeruginosa keratitis that can be used in diagnostic centers.
